There are 4 existing CDMA antennas and supports to be removed. All holes/ scratches/
damage to the tower caused by the supports from these antennas should be repaired, and the
tower should be painted with primer and matching paint to ensure that the metal is
protected.
2. A building permit should be issued for the proposed antennas. Check with your
building officials to see what they would require. It may be necessary for structural
engineer to review the plans to ensure that the proposed antenna supports meet code.
3. The language in the existing lease agreement should be reviewed to ensure that it
refers to securing the cables. They also should not impede the use of the access tube by
City or other Antenna users. The engineering diagram indicates that the cables will be
affixed to the existing cable rack.
4. The lease agreement should deal with RF interference. Since CDMA is a licensed
frequency, it would not interfere with any other frequency since mobile phone operators
all use different, noninteferring frequencies. Arden Hills would need to have an RF
engineer report if any operator requesting use of the tower is using any of the unlicensed
frequencies (like Wi-Fi) .
5. Lease agreement should be reviewed. Usually the higher the antennas the higher the
cost. If it's going on the top. ..it's top dollar. We are getting $22,000 for 75' on the
Fairview tower legs.
6. It is suggested that Sprint cover the access holes with a removable steel screen cover
or cap to be secured to prevent falling from the tower. It should not be necessary to fill
the holes as these are welded steel collars, not just a hole. The access holes can used
by a future lessee. If these are welded shut, any future operator (perhaps even Arden
Hills) would need to cut new holes into the tower.

The key document would be the lease, and not so much the engineering document as it is
pretty standard for a tower like this.

Let us know if you have any questions.

-----Original Message-----
From: Greg Hoag
Sent: Tuesday, May 22, 2007 3:44 PM
To: Deb Bloom
Subject: FW: Arden Hills Tower

Deb-

Here it is.

Greg Hoag
Public Works Director
City of Arden Hills
(651)792-7847 Direct
(651)634-5137 Fax
greg.hoag@ci.arden-hills.mn.us

-----Original Message-----
From: Richard Markus [mailto:rmarkus@barantelecom.com]
Sent: Monday, May 14, 2007 11:01 PM
To: Greg Hoag (Arden Hills)
Subject: RE: Arden Hills Tower

1
