When looking for a home and a community to call home we were
pleased to discover Arden Hills. We have been blessed with a true
community - great neaighbors who look out for each other, wonderful
business owners who know us by name and treat us like family, schools
that nurture and encourage our children to be responsible citizens,
and city planners and council members who are as concerned we are
that Arden hills remain a true community and avoid the "suburb" label!
So it is with great sorrow to learn that the city of Arden Hills is
considering allowing the chain of Walgreens to build in our community.
Walgreens, WalMart, Sam's Club are known for going into small
communities and putting the small business owners out of business~
This WILL happen in our community, not just to Arden Plaza Pharmacy
but to other small businesses as well. Please read the very
informative book about the way Walton Corp has put an end to the
American dream of owning a small business! Arden Plaza is considered
the "hub" of our community; it is a place where every business owner
knows their customer by name and anticipates their needs.
A Walgreens will place us in the category of "just another suburb"
with the usual cookie cutter look and feel. Please, I beg you to
reconsider
the plans for placing a Walgreens in our community! I, and so many
others, moved to Arden Hills for the amenities, the small town
atmosphere, the small businesses that have long been the back bone of
America and the American dream. Please do not destroy the many gifts
that Arden Hills offers by trying to compete with the "big boys" such
as Shoreview and Vadnais Heights.
Sincerely,
Claudia Munson
1144 Waldon Place
Arden Hills Minnesota 55112
munson@gabriel.stodilia.org

1
