Our salon has been <br />located in the Arden Plaza for about 25 years and has developed a solid client base. Our <br />salon draws clients from as far as a 45 mile radius. We have a strong commitment to the <br />location and have recently renovated our space. <br /> <br />We are in support of the renovations being done to the Arden Plaza. We feel it would <br />help our business as well as all the other businesses around us. Having an updated mall <br />front as well as some new businesses would help draw business to the mall. <br /> <br />When our salon took part in the Slice of Shoreview last summer, it was amazing how <br />many people never heard of us or the Arden Plaza and have lived in the area for a very <br />long time. The mall has no "curb appeal" to draw people in. It is not very visible from the <br />road and the parking lot is half empty most of the time, which makes the mall look "not <br />worth going to". We would prefer the parking to be kept away from the storefronts. I <br />think it makes each business more visible without cars parked there all the time. <br /> <br />We feel a well established chain restaurant of some type would be a positive influence on <br />the commnnity. If the people of Arden Hills and Shoreview have to leave the area to eat, <br />they will probably shop in another area out of convenience. We are concerned that an <br />Aldi store would not bring in the right clientele for the existing businesses. I think it's <br />important to look at businesses that would fit the community. <br /> <br />The traffic on Lexington and Co Rd E is only backed up when the train crosses <br />Lexington. There are not residences that would be affected by extra traffic to the mall and <br />it would help all the new and existing businesses in the area.
