City of Arden Hills Chapter 12 Sign Code <br />Section 1230 — Exempt and Prohibited Signs <br />1230.01 Exemptions. The following signs shall not require a permit issued by the City. <br />These exemptions, however, shall not relieve the owner of the sign from the responsibility <br />of its maintenance and its compliance with the provisions of this Chapter or any other law <br />or ordinance regulating the same. <br />Subd. 1 Official public notices or warning signs required by local, state or federal <br />law, including but not limited to traffic control and other regulatory purpose signs; <br />Subd. 2 Signs of any size containing non-commercial speech may be posted on <br />private property with permission from the property owner from August I in any <br />general election year until ten (10) days following the general election and thirteen <br />(13) weeks prior to any special election until ten (10) days following the special <br />election provided that the signs are in compliance with Minnesota Statutes. This <br />exemption does not allow signs to be placed in the right-of-wav or on public <br />property <br />Subd. 3 Address identification not exceeding our (4) square feet in area for each <br />structure or portion of a structure with an assigned address; <br />Subd. 4 Residential properties in Sign Districts I and 3 shall be allowed up to <br />eight (8) square feet of signage provided that a single sign is no larger than six (6) <br />12-17 <br />DRAFT January 9, 2008 <br />Deleted: four <br />-� <br />Deleted: 4 y <br />
