Staff requests the City Council and Planning Commission discuss the drafts <br />and provide comment and feedback back to staff. In addition, staff is requesting further direction <br />on specific items to be discussed at the work session. <br /> <br /> <br />Backl!round <br /> <br /> <br />Staff has been directed by the Planning Commission and City Council to examine the current <br />zoning eode regarding tree preservation. Currently the City has few regulations dealing with tree <br />loss and tree replacement. Staff was asked to draft a tree preservation ordinance that would <br />better handle tree loss and mitigation within the city. In response to this request, staff has <br />examined a number of tree preservation ordinances throughout the metropolitan area. In <br />addition, local and national sources have been consulted that offer potential best practices on <br />developing a tree preservation ordinance. Staff met with the Planning Commission, the City <br />Council, and the PTRC to discuss the goals and objeetives of a potential Tree Preservation <br />Ordinance in Arden Hills.
