<br />Section 1280 - Non-Conforming Signs <br /> <br />1280.01 Non-conforming Signs. It is the intent ofthis Chapter that non-conforming signs <br /> <br />shall not be enlarged or expanded, nor be used as grounds for adding other signs or uses <br /> <br />prohibited elsewhere in the same district. It is further the intent of this Chapter to permit <br /> <br />legal non-conforming signs to remain provided that such signs are safe, maintained so as <br /> <br />not to be unsightly, and have not been abandoned or removed subject to the following <br /> <br />provisions: <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Non-conforming Sign Continuance. A legal non-conforming sign may be <br /> <br />continued through repair, replacement, restoration, maintenance, or improvement <br /> <br />but shall not be expanded or moved to a new location. <br /> <br />Subd.2 Non-conforming Sign Discontinuance. If the use of the non-conforming <br /> <br />sign or sign structure is discontinued for a period of one (1) year, the sign or sign <br /> <br />structure shall not be reconstructed or used except in conformity with the provisions <br /> <br />of this Chapter. <br /> <br />Subd.3 Non-conforming Sign Damaged or Destroyed. Should such non-conforming <br /> <br />sign or sign structure be damaged or destroyed by any means to an extent greater <br /> <br />than fifty (50) percent of its market value or structure and all required permits for <br /> <br />its reconstruction have not been applied for within one-hundred eighty (180) days of <br /> <br />40 <br />
