<br />2007 PMP <br />4/24/2008 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Based on past practice, the City Council has awarded the contract to the lowest responsible <br />bidder. In the case of 2008 Contract B, the lowest bidder is Midwest Asphalt Corporation, of <br />Hopkins, Minnesota. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br /> <br />We received eight bids for this project. The low bid submitted by Midwest Asphalt Corporation, <br />$1,173,563.19, is 15% lower than the Engineer's construction estimate of $1 ,388,385.20. The <br />Arden Hills portion of the contract is $7,775.35, which is 19% lower than the engineer's estimate <br />of$9,498.
