<br />~ <br />~HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: April 28, 2008 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br /> <br />FROM: James Lehnhoff, City Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: B-2 Small Area Plan <br />Steering Committee <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />MOlion to Appoint Members to lhe Steering Commiltee for the B-2 General Business District Small <br />Area Plan for an Eight Month Term. <br /> <br />Backl!round <br /> <br />The RFP for the B-2 Small Area Plan included provisions for creating a steering commiltee to help <br />guide the planning process. The sleering committee would review drafts of the plan, altend public <br />meetings, reach out to slakeholders, and provide feedback throughout the planning process, Allhe <br />January 22, 2008, City Council work session, the Council came to a consensus that the commiltee <br />should be created and suggested that it include two property owners from the B-2 distriCl, one nearby <br />resident, another residenl from elsewhere in lhe City, and one councilmember. <br /> <br />Upon consultation with the City's planning consultanl, Bill Weber ofMFRA recommended <br />increasing the size of the commiltee to ten 10 fifteen people. Having a larger commiltee will help <br />compensate for when some members may not be able to altend. Having enough people at each <br />meeting is imperalive because the schedule is very light. <br /> <br />Section 220 Subd. 4 of the City Code includes provisions for the creation of temporary advisory <br />committees.
