<br />Coordinates the maintenance and repair of Public Works related infrastructure. <br /> <br />Coordinates and schedules staff for snow events including plowing, and ice control. <br /> <br />Performs other duties as apparent or assigned. <br /> <br />SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />Directly supervises employees in the Public Works Department. Carries out supervisory <br />responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities <br />include: training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting in <br />evaluating performance; issuing oral reprimands; addressing complaints and resolving <br />problems. Responsibilities also include the ability to effectively recommend hiring; <br />rewarding; transferring; promoting; disciplining, suspending; demoting and discharge of <br />employees and the adjustment of grievances. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty <br />satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, <br />and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals <br />with disabilities to perform the essential functions. <br /> <br />MINIMUM EDUCATION andlor EXPERIENCE <br /> <br />High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and seven (7) years <br />progressively responsible related experience in the Public Works field, including a <br />minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of <br />education and experience. <br /> <br />DESIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE <br /> <br />At least ten (10) years progressively responsible related experience in the Public Works <br />field, including five (5) years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of <br />education and experience. <br /> <br />LANGUAGE SKILLS <br /> <br />Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance <br />instructions, repair manuals, blue prints, plan sheets, and procedure manuals. Ability to <br />prepare routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give and follow oral and written <br />instructions. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with supervisors, <br />co-workers, City staff, consultants and the general public. <br />
