Depending on the results of the Council's work session, the Plan will be uploaded to the web site for
public review and a final public open house will be scheduled for the first part of June to publicly
review the draft and solicit public comment. Attendees will be able to comment and provide input
on the draft Plan prior to any official approval.

The Planning Commission is scheduled to officially review the final draft of the Comprehensive
Plan in July. If the City Council comes to a consensus on the draft after the Planning Commission
review, it will be sent to adjacent cities, the watershed district, and the school districts for review as
required by Statute. After those agencies complete their review and provide comments, the City
Council can then officially approve the Plan and send it to the Metropolitan Council for approval.

Public comment can be provided until the Plan is sent to the Metropolitan Council for review.
However, the City's official public process will essentially be finished by the end of June. If
needed, the process can be extended to ensure there is sufficient time for public comment. It is
important to note that State Statutes require all cities to submit their comprehensive plans by the
end of 2008. While the Metropolitan Council is working with cities on meeting this deadline, they
do not have an official extension process. The City is somewhat behind schedule on this process
and additional delays may put the City at risk of not meeting the submission deadline.

If you have additional comments after tonight's meeting, you will still have time to submit them to
me. This is not your last chance to participate.

Attachments

May 14, 2008, Draft of the Comprehensive Plan

City of Arden Hills
City Council Special Work Session for May 19, 2008

\\Metro-inet.uslardenhi//slPlanning\ComprehensivePlanlMemoslO51908 - CC Report - CompPlan - Vision, Policies, and Strategies.doc
Page 2 af2
