<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> § 19-4 ARDEN HILLS CODE <br /> <br /> Layoff.• The temporary dismissal from employment of an em- <br /> ployee for an unspecified length of time. During a period of layoff, <br /> employees do not accrue benefits and are not credited with ser- <br /> vice. <br /> Municipal service: Employment with the city. <br /> Parttime employee: Any person who is engaged in parttime, <br /> seasonal or casual employment working less than twenty (20) <br /> hours per week. No benefits shall be accrued. <br /> Position: Employment calling for the performance of specified <br /> tasks which constitute the total work assignment of a single em- <br /> ployee. There are as many positions as there are employees. <br /> Probationary period: The period of six (6) months after original <br /> appointment of any regular fulltime or regular parttime em- <br /> ployee. This period is a trial period considered as an integral part <br /> of the examination process during which an employee is required <br /> to demonstrate fitness for the position and ability to meet re- <br /> quired performance standards of a position. <br /> Probationary employee: One who has been assigned to a regular <br /> fulltime or regular parttime position but who has not completed <br /> the probationary period. <br /> Promotion: The placement of an employee in a position having <br /> a higher pay range and/or more responsibility than the position <br /> previously held. <br /> Regular emplayee: An employee who has completed the re- <br /> quired probationary period and who serves in a position which is <br /> provided in the budget on a regular basis. <br /> Regular fulltime employee: A regular employee who has suc- <br /> cessfully completed the required probationary period and is sched- <br /> uled for that number of hours which make up the regularly sched- <br /> ' uled weekly or monthly period of service in the class. <br /> Regular parttime employee: A regular employee who has suc- <br /> cessfully completed the required probationary period and is em- <br /> ployed on a schedule of twenty (20) or more hours per week but <br /> less than forty (40) hours per week.
