<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> § 19-13 ARDEN HILLS CODE <br /> stated, previously earned by the employee in accordance with the <br /> accrual schedule and approved by the employee's immediate su- <br /> pervisor. <br /> (b) Eligibility. The supervisor or administrator shall determine <br /> whether an employee is eligible for benefits under the sick leave <br /> plan and in connection with such determination may determine <br /> in their discretion whether an employee's absence from work is <br /> actually due to illness or injury. In the event the supervisor deems <br /> it proper to make an inquiry into an employee's absence, the <br /> employee shall cooperate in authorizing the supervisor or admin- <br /> istrator to obtain any necessary medical or hospital records. <br /> ' Claiming sick leave for reasons other than those stated shall be <br /> , cause for disciplinary action or discharge. <br /> (c) Accrua.l. Sick leave shall be earned by all regular fulltime <br /> employees at the rate of eight (8) hours per month or twelve (12) <br /> days per year. Temporary employees are not eligible for sick leave. <br /> Employees using earned vacation leave or paid sick leave shall be <br /> considered to be working for the purpose of accumulating addi- <br /> tional vacation or sick leave. <br /> (d) Accumulation. Sick leave may be accumulated to a max- <br /> imum of one hundred (100) days. Probationary employees who are <br /> new hires may not use sick leave until satisfactory completion of <br /> six (6) months (one hundred eighty (180) days) of continuous ser- <br /> vice. Probationary employees who have been promoted may use <br /> sick leave; however, if sick leave used exceeds a total of five (5) <br /> days, the probationary period shall automatically be extended by <br /> the same number of days as sick leave days used. When accumu- <br /> lated sick leave reaches the maximum, the employee will con- <br /> tinue to be credited with one (1) day per month banked sick leave <br /> which may be used after depletion of their accumulated sick leave <br /> to protect the employee in the event of a lengthy illness or acci- <br /> dent.
