No. 275, 1-2-91) <br /> Sec. 19•27. Supervisory authority regarding discipline and <br /> discharge. <br /> <br /> (a) Supervisors have the authority to impose oral and written <br /> reprimands without the prior approval of the clerk administrator. <br /> (b) Upon the recommendation of the clerk administrator and <br /> with the approval of the city council, an employee may be sus- <br /> pended without pay to a maximum of thirty (30) continuous work- <br /> days in any given calendar year. <br /> (c) An employee may be demoted or discharged by the city <br /> council. Employees shall be notified in writing of suspension <br /> without pay, demotion or discharge. Such notice shall include the <br /> , cause for such action. <br /> (d) The employee may grieve disciplinary action or discharge <br /> in accordance with the established grievance procedure. Griev- <br /> ances of disciplinary action may be initiated at Step 2 of the <br /> procedure. If the grievance is upheld, the employee shalI receive <br /> all payments, benefits and service accrual which the employee <br /> would have earned during the period of suspension without pay, <br /> demotion or discharge. In case of demotion or discharge, an em- <br /> ployee shall be reinstated to the position formerly held if the <br /> grievance is upheld. (Ord.
