<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> CODE OF OftDINANCES <br /> <br /> <br /> Chapter 1 <br /> GENERAL PR.OVISIONS <br /> <br /> Sec. 1-1. How designated, cited. <br /> The chapters, articles, divisions and sections embraced in <br /> this Code of Ordinancea shall constitute and be designated <br /> as "The Code of Ordinances of the City of Arden Hills, <br /> Minnesota" and may be so cited. This Code may also be <br /> cited as the "Arden Hills City Code." <br /> ' State law reference-Authority to codify ordinances, M.S.A. <br /> 412.191(5), 415.021. <br /> Sec. 1-2. Rules of construction, definitions. In the construction of this Code and of all ordinances of <br /> <br /> this city, the following rules of conatruction and definitions <br /> shall be observed, unless such conatruction or definition <br /> would be inconsistent with the manifest intent of the city <br /> council, would be repugnant to the context of the provisions <br /> or the context clearly requires otherwise. <br /> Generally: All words and phrases shall be construed and ' <br /> understood according to the common and approved usage of <br /> language; but technical words and phrases and such others <br /> as may have acquired a peculiar and appropriate meaning ' <br /> in the law shall be construed and understood according to <br /> such peculiar and appropriate meaning. <br /> . Alley: The word "alley" shall mean a minor public way <br /> which is used primarily for vehicular service access to the <br /> back or side of a property abutting on a street. ~ <br /> Boulevard: The word "boulevard" shall mean that portion <br /> of a street lying between the lateral line of the roadway ! <br /> portion thereof (i.e., the back of the curb or curbline) and the ~ <br /> property line of abutting properties which may contain ' <br /> within ita boundaries a sidewalk. <br /> 1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> J <br />
