<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> SECTION IV GENERAL FROVISIONS <br /> <br /> A. Public signs shall be permitted in all districts. <br /> <br /> B. A1l signs as required by Occupational Safety Hazards Act shall be per- <br /> mitted in ail districts. <br /> <br /> C. No signs other than public signs shall be erected ar temporarily placed <br /> within any street right-of-ways or upon any public lands or easements <br /> or right-of-way. <br /> U. No sign permitted by this Ordinance shall, by reason of its location, color <br /> or intensity, create a hazard to the safe, efficient movement of vehicular <br /> or pedestrian traffic. No private sign shall contain words which might be <br /> construed as traffic controls, such as "Stop", "Caution". "Warning", etc. <br /> uniess such sign is intended to direct traffic on the premises. <br /> <br /> E• The City Council may approve the construction of a temporary sign not <br /> specifically defined in this Ordinance if a valid need is shown to exist <br /> by virtue of an emergency or special situation, such as highway construction. <br /> The duration, location, size and other conditions upon the sign shall be <br /> estabTished by the Council at the time of approval. <br /> F. For the purpose of calculating the area of a sign under this <br /> Ordinance, the fo]lowing rules shall apply: <br /> <br /> l. Sign area shall include the copy, graphic elements, background, <br /> borders, and frame. <br /> 2. Changeable copy signs shall be considered as part of the area <br /> of a business sign and shall not exceed 50 per cent of the <br /> allowable area for a business sign. <br /> <br /> 3. 7he maximum area for multiple-faced signs shall be twice the <br /> allawable area indicated in'Sectian V of this <br /> Ordinance. <br /> 4. The area of a ground sign shall include the architectual wall <br /> or feature to which it is attached. <br /> <br /> 5. Sign support structures which are an integral part of the <br /> design of the identification device shall be calculated as part <br /> of the allowable sign area and may be permitted only by Planning <br /> Commission review and Council approval. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 9 <br />
