ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - July 14, 2008

19

Deputy Fire Chief Ralph Adair stated that the department would like to get
another truck with an aerial device.

Councilmember Holmes asked if this truck would be a first responder vehicle.

Mayor Harpstead stated that this would be the first responder vehicle until there is
a replacement in the future.

Deputy Fire Chief Adair stated that the newer vehicles will be the first responder
vehicles and the department does use the vehicles to the best of their ability.

Councilmember Grant asked if it was reasonable to say that the amount of wear
and teaf on the vehicle was proportionate to the vehicle carrying water or not.

Fire Chief Boehlke stated that this would be a fair assessment. He also stated that
the emergency response miles will wear and tear on the vehicle.

Councilmember Grant asked how many gallons of water the demonstrator ladder
truck carried versus the telesquirt ladder truck.

Fire Chief Boehlke stated that the demonstrator ladder truck carries about 720
gallons versus 500 gallons for the telesquirt ladder truck.

The motion was called to vote.
