MEMORANDUM DATE: October 13, 2008 TO: Ron Moorse, City Administrator Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager 111@ SUBJECT: Resignation of Joani Werner from the PTRC Backl!round The City Council officially appointed Joani Werner to the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee (PTRC) at the Regular City Council Meeting on April 30, 2007. Unfortunately, Joani Werner has informed the City that her job schedule has changed and she will be unable to continue serving on the committee (resignation email is attached). Therefore, the PTRC will now have one official opening. As the committee guidelines state, this vacant position will assume the term that J o ani Werner was serving. She was serving a three year term that began in January, 2008. Therefore, she has 2 years remaining on her term. During the process in 2007, five individuals were interviewed for two openingse After the completion of the interviews, Joe Nosek and Joani Werner were appointed. Shortly after, Joe Nosek unexpectedly had to withdraw and John Peck was then chosen for appointment. The two remaining applicants from that process are: Mr. Charles Kachel Mr. Harold Peterson The City has informed these individuals that an opening exists and has asked them if they would be interested in being considered for the opening. The City will also advertise for the opening in the local paper. After the application deadline, interviews will be set up with a panel that includes the PTRC Chair, Staff Liaison, and Council Liaison. Staff Recommendations Staffrecommends a motion to accept the resignation of Joani Werner from the Parks, Trails, and Recreation Committee (PTRC).
