<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION - SEPTEMBER 17,2008 <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked if the park land would be dedicated by the <br />developers. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang stated this was the case or that it would be handled by the <br />homeowners association. <br /> <br />City Administrator Moorse indicated an estimate of the population that was being <br />served by the parks would need to be determined to help establish the amenities <br />needed within the parks. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang stated this could be reviewed through the housing number estimates <br />and demographics. She indicated the housing developer could have parameters set <br />to meet the needs of the neighborhood as well. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant stated he would be more in favor of manicured parks than <br />a natural setting. <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead stated the natural setting was provided within the 49 acres of <br />the wildlife corridor. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant stated he would like information on the economic benefits <br />of manicured versus natural parks. He indicated the value added would be useful <br />information in future decision making. <br /> <br />Ms. K vilvang thanked the Counc,il for their comments stating staff and consultants <br />would work together to prepare for the next meeting where information will be <br />brought back for Council decision. <br /> <br />2. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND REQUESTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant questioned what information staff has about Fannie Mae <br />due to the recent financial concerns. <br /> <br />Mr. Collins stated he felt it was good to have all of the housing concerns arise at <br />one time. He indicated that the concerns with Fannie Mae would be resolved by <br />the time this development began. <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead asked if Ryan Companies had considered a residential partner <br />yet. <br />
