<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - October 13, 2008 <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />Councilmember McClung stated that the detailed breakdown should be distributed <br />to the Council so that everyone has an opportunity to comment on the costs. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden stated that one additional change would be: <br />1.) On page 1-6 - clarify that the road name change is only a supplementary <br />name change <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Grant <br />seconded a motion to table the "Guiding Plan" until the October 27, <br />2008 Regular City Council meeting. The motion carried unanimously <br />( 5 -0). <br /> <br />C. Motion to Approve the Purchase of a Replacement Tanker Truck <br />for an Amount Not to Exceed $123,003.48 <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden stated that the replacement for the water tanker truck was <br />voted down by the Council with a 1-4 vote. One of the issues raised at that meeting <br />was the safety of the vehicle. She stated that after further discussions with the City <br />workers utilizing the truck the safety issues were more severe than the Council may <br />have believed at the time of the vote and the replacement of the truck should be <br />reconsidered. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Mayor Harpstead seconded a <br />motion to approve the purchase of a new cab and chassis from Boyer <br />Ford at a cost of $55,060.31 to include tax, trade in, and registration; <br />and to also authorize staff to purchase the tank and accessories from <br />Stepp Manufacturing at a cost of $67,943.48, for a total cost not to <br />exceed $123,003.48. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant clarified that this would be a 2008 purchase. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden stated that this would be a 2008 purchase. <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead asked if the bids that were received previously were still good. <br /> <br />City Administrator Moorse stated that all the bids were still current. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant asked how long the bids were good for. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Hoag stated that the bid from Boyer Ford was good until <br />January 30, 2009 and the bid from Stepp Manufacturing was good until January 1, <br />2009. He also stated that there may be a question of availability at this time. <br />
