<br />Ia <br />~~IDLLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: February 4,2009 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Sue Iverson, Finance Director/Treasurer ~ <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Acknowledgment for Catholic Aid Association to Hold a Raffle <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City has received a request from Catholic Aid Association for authorization to hold a raffle <br />to benefit Catholic education in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. According to <br />Minnesota's Lawful Gambling regulations, they are required to obtain acknowledgment from the <br />City they are located in. This does not require a permit or license from the City as it is not a <br />premise permit. <br /> <br />As part of the requirement ofLG220 Application for Exempt Permit, the City must acknowledge <br />the application with no waitillg period, with a 30 day waiting period, or deny the application. The <br />dates for this raffle are September 18, 2009 through October 30,2009. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff does not see any reason to impose a 30 day waiting period on this application. Staff <br />recommends the City COUI1Cil approve a motion acknowledging the application of Catholic Aid <br />Association for an Exempt Permit to conduct a raffle from September 18, 2009 through October <br />30, 2009 with no waiting period. <br />
