City of Arden Hills Chapter 13 Zoning Code <br />Subd. 17 Board. The board of appeals and adjustment established by this Code. <br />Subd. 18 Boardinghouse. A building other than a hotel where for compensation and <br />by pre -arrangement for definite periods, lodging and meals are provided for three (3) <br />or more persons, but not exceeding five (5) persons. <br />Subd. 19 Boathouse. That portion of a street lying between the lateral line of the <br />roadway portion thereof (i.e., the back of the curb or curb line) and the right-of-way <br />line thereof which may contain within its boundaries a sidewalk or portion of <br />driveway. <br />Subd. 21 Building. A structure which is designed and suitable for the habitation or <br />shelter of human beings or animals, or a shelter or storage of property, or is used for <br />trade or manufacturing. <br />Subd. 22 Building Line. A subordinate building structure or <br />use which is located on the same lot on which the principal building or use is situated <br />and which is reasonable necessary, appropriate and incidental to the conduct of the <br />primary use of such principal building or principal use. <br />Subd. 24 Building envelope. (See Lot, Buildable portion of.) <br />Subd. 25 Building height. The vertical distance from the average elevation of the <br />grade along a face of a building to the highest point of the roof surface of flat roofs, <br />the deck line of mansard roofs, or the average height between the eaves and the <br />highest ridge of gable, hip, or gambrel roofs. The height of a stepped or terraced <br />building shall be the height of the tallest segment of the building. <br />Subd. 26 Building inspector. The inspector as provided for in the building code. <br />Subd. 27 Building, principal. A building in which the principal use, of the lot on <br />which it is located, is conducted. <br />Subd. 28 Bulk.
