<br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />July 21, 2009 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Kristine Giga, Civil Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption (EVP) Project <br /> <br />BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION <br />At the March 9, 2009, meeting, the City Council approved the City of Arden Hills' participation in <br />Ramsey County's Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption (EVP) Project for the following intersections: <br /> <br />· Lexington Avenue and 1694 South ramp <br />· Lexington Avenue and 1694 North ramp <br />· Lexington Avenue and Grey Fox Road <br />· Lexington Avenue and Red Fox Road <br />· County Road E and TH 51 West ramp <br />· County Road E and TH 51 East ramp <br />· County Road E and Pine Tree Drive <br /> <br />The intersection of West Round Lake Road and CSAH 96 was removed from the project by the City <br />Council at the March 9 meeting; Ramsey County's construction plans reflect this change. <br /> <br />Attached is a copy of the Cooperative Agreement that Ramsey County has prepared for this project. <br />The agreement identifies the scope of the project, as well as the costs to be paid by the City. The <br />City Attorney has reviewed the agreement and has no objections. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br />The estimated construction costs for the above-listed intersections are $23,500. The agreement also <br />states that the City is responsible for construction engineering fees in the amount of eight percent <br />(8%) of the construction costs, which is $1,880.
