2008 RamseyCounty Sheriff Annual Review
1. What do you think went well in 2008? (List significant accomplishments,
planned and unplanned.)
• Patrol division leadership continues to be very responsive to inquiries and
service requests. LC, WBT
• Improvements in general visibility have been noted. LC
• Continued Responsiveness to Traffic Concerns. LC, VH, WBT
• Implementation of motorcycle traffic patrol provides a less conspicuous
means of enforcement. LC, WBT
• VIPS & the Reserve Program continue to be tremendous assets to our
Y
Cit in addressing special projects and community events. LC
• Winter No Parking enforcement seems to be better. LC
• Republican National Convention seemed to be well handled with minimal
g
impact to on-going performance in the contracting jurisdictions. LC, VH,
p g
WBT
• Gas Drive Off was an excellent idea and a great service to
program
businesses. It also should impact other crime areas given that "bad guys"
are likely participants in drive-offs. LC, VH.
• Staffing substation in Heritage Hall (GL/WBT) has improved image and
presence in east part of contract community patrol area. WBT, GL
• Crime levels in Arden Hills remained low. AH
• Sheriff's willingness to consider a "trial officer" for multi-family properties in
Little Canada in lieu of formula modifications to provide us with the
opportunity to get a handle on activity at some of our apartment
pp Y
complexes. LC
• Mobile Home Park Crime Prevention program was another good idea to
get a handle on problem areas. LC
• Excellent assistance by RCSD in dealing with administrative warrant at
811 Carla Lane and helping to get control of a problem property. LC
• The City appreciated the Sheriff's Department support and partnerships
with the VHFD's CERT Members training. VH
• The arson investigation on the City's pavilion at Community Park,
especially the efforts of Ronda McArdle was outstanding in gaining a
conviction and putting closure to this matter in quick order. VH
2. What concerns do you have with the performance of the RCSD in 2008?
What would you like to have accomplished but didn't, and why?
• Look for opportunities for productivity and reduction of cost per unit
service. I am not sure that we identified any such examples or took the
necessary actions to achieve them. AH
