H S. <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2008 6:30 PM <br /> ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> L CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> Acting Chair Peck called the November 25, 2008, meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation <br /> Committee to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Committee Members Lanny Baumann, John Peck and Rich <br /> Straumann. <br /> OTHERS PRESENT: Council Liaison Fran Holmes, Council Member Brenda Holden, <br /> Council Member David McClung, Parks and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson, Civil <br /> Engineer Kris Giga, Bolton & Menk Engineer Travis Winter, Guests: Don Messerly, Jim Holden <br /> and Potential Committee Members: Larry Jones, Harold Peterson, Nancy O'Malley and Steve <br /> Scott. <br /> MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Committee Member Steve Zilmer <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> MOTION: Acting Chair Peck motioned to approve the agenda as presented. The motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—October 21, 2008 <br /> MOTION: Acting Chair Peck motioned to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by <br /> Committee Member Straumann. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> 4. COMMITTEE VACANCY DISCUSSION <br /> Ms. Olson stated several committee members have resigned recently. She explained however, <br /> that quite a few prospects have applied for the positions. Ms. Olson indicated four members will <br /> be appointed with the possibility of additional members joining the group, if the Council <br /> increases the membership from 8 members. She reported the group meets the third Tuesday of <br /> every month at 6:30 p.m. lasting roughly an hour to an hour and a half. Ms. Olson noted that <br /> staff, council liaison, and the acting committee chair would be holding interviews shortly in <br /> order to move forward on filling vacancies. <br /> 5. CP RAIL REPORT—Bolton & Menk, Inc. <br /> Ms. Olson explained the Council approved a study for the old CP Rail Bridge on Snelling <br /> Avenue. She noted the study was to look at the best design to more easily access this area for <br /> pedestrians. Ms. Olson indicated a study was completed for the design of the bridge along with <br />
