PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> November 25, 2008 <br /> Page 4of5 <br /> Ms. Olson explained that the next step would be to present the Council with the feasibility study <br /> for informational purposes and that the PTRC would get additional information in the near future <br /> when a recommendation can be made. <br /> Councilmember Holden questioned if the railroad had been contacted about the trail corridor and <br /> if they had a preference. Mr. Winter indicated they were willing to look at the design and see <br /> how it would impact the bridge. <br /> 6. CITY COUNCIL UPDATE—Fran Holmes <br /> Ms. Holmes reviewed the past Council meetings noting the B2 district guiding plan was <br /> approved b the Council on October 27th. She stated this would affect the "downtown" Arden <br /> pp y <br /> Hills area from Snelling to Lexington. Ms. Holmes explained design standards have since been <br /> approved as well for this area. Ms. Holmes reported that the Burger King would be turned into — <br /> an Arby's as well. <br /> Ms. Holmes stated that on December 6th the Council would be holding a goal setting retreat to <br /> g g <br /> create an upcoming work list for 2009 along with reviewing the goals passed on by each <br /> Commission and Committee for the City. <br /> Ms. Holmes stated on November 17th a work session meeting was held to discuss the 2009 <br /> budget. <br /> Ms. Holmes reported that at the November 19th TCAAP was discussed to set a budget for the <br /> p g <br /> large green space, which will be forwarded to this Committee for further discussion and <br /> recommendations. <br /> Ms. Holmes stated the PTRC currently has eight members but that the Council would be <br /> discussing the option of having more members on this Committee because there is a growing <br /> interest. She indicated this group may be increased the 10-12 members. <br /> Councilmember Holden added that the McDonald's was going to be demolished and rebuilt in <br /> the spring of 2009. She stated the Council has not received a design plan to date. <br /> 7. PARKS, TRAILS AND RECRAETION UPDATE —Michelle Olson <br /> Ms. Olson indicated a Valentine Park drainage study was being conducted by WSB. She noted a <br /> neighborhood meeting will be held on December 11 th at City Hall to discuss the concerns with <br /> g g y <br /> Valentine Park to address the drainage concerns. <br /> Ms. Olson explained the safe routes to school and DNR trails were being worked on and that the <br /> wetland delineation was completed. She stated the costs are being examined and plans and <br /> specifications are being prepared for Safe Routes to School. Ms. Olson stated she hopes to have <br /> a presentation to City Council by February of 2009 and out to bid by March with the trail <br /> constructed before September. <br />
