Our City tree inspector has <br />identified diseased and hazardous trees on City property which need removal to prevent <br />further spread of disease. Also identified are stumps in several parks which remain from <br />past tree removals completed by City staff. See attachment A for a list of locations and <br />types, as well as the estimated cost for each area. Staff has requested our current tree <br />removal contractor to provide a quote to remove these trees and stumps. We have <br />received an estimate of $28,611.51 for removal of these trees. <br />Financial Implications <br />Total pending costs related to tree removal on City property are $28,611.51 as explained <br />above. The 2009 approved budget includes $37,590 for tree removal. To date the city has <br />spent $7,596.40. If approved, this work will be completed within the 2009 budgeted <br />amount for tree removal. <br />Recommendation <br />It is recommended that Council authorize Staff to have the City tree removal contractor <br />proceed with diseased and hazardous tree removal work on city property, for a cost not to <br />exceed $28,611.51. <br />Council Action Requested <br />Motion to authorize Staff to have the City tree removal contractor proceed with diseased <br />and hazardous tree removal work on city property, for a cost not to exceed $28,611.51. <br />
