ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION-AUGUST 17 2009 23
Councilmember Grant stated that he would like to see the old City Hall site
cleaned and leveled before marketing began on the site.
Councilmember Holden questioned if the B2 District should be added to the 2010
budget.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff stated he would add some funds for
preplanning of the B2 District.
The Council then discussed the equipment purchases projected for 20 10.
Councilmember Holden questioned why the John Deere was left in the budget as
this was a future need and not requested for current use.
Public Works Director Hoag indicated this request was for a combination of
current, future and overall need for an adequate piece of equipment to do
sidewalks. He noted the Toro's are not built for the abuse of sidewalks and require
a great deal of repair work.
Councilmember Holden stated she would like to see a justification on this piece
of equipment.
Mayor Harpstead indicated that language was included in the July memo but that
it was omitted from this explanation. He noted that the other tractor would be sold -
if the new one was purchased.
Councilmember Holmes questioned if the City trails would be plowed in the
winter if this piece of equipment were purchased.
Park and Recreation Manager Olson indicated that the City plowed 90% of the
trails but that there was a liability due to the build up of ice on the trails. She
explained that although they are plowed there may be dangerous areas.
2. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND REQUESTS
Councilmember Holden stated she would like to know the status on the
community-wide survey. She questioned how much was spent and how much more
would need to be spent to finish the project.
