�.� EN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: January 25, 2010 <br />TC�: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Sue Iverson, Acting City Administrator <br />Greg Hoag, Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Appointment of Max Arvidson to the Position of Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City recently completed a recruitment and selection process for the vacant Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker position. The interview panel consisted of; Greg Hoag, Sue Iverson, <br />Joe Mooney, and Bill Dircks from the City of Little Canada. The top candidate was <br />determined to be Max Arvidson. Max has been one of our Seas�nal Maintenance employees <br />the past two summers. Max was a valuable employee the past two summers, he primarily <br />worked on our sewer cleaning and televising crew the first year. This past summer Max <br />worked primarily as one of our sump pump inspectors. Max has proven to be a very reliable <br />employee and acted as a leader with the other seasonal employees. Since completing his <br />position this past summer, Max was recently hired to a permanent Public Works position <br />with the City of Stacy, where he has used many of the skills he had learned while working for <br />Arden Hills. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that Max Arvidson be appointed to the position of Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker at a starting wage of $17.44 per hour which is the starting step in the <br />current labor contract. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to appoint Max Arvidson to the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker at a <br />starting wage of $17.44 per hour, contingent upon successful results of a background check <br />and pre-employment physical. <br />
