Per our conversation, I am requesting your
help with the problem 1 am having with wild turkeys.
We have app. 20 turkeys that invade our yard daily. We have been forced to take
in our bird feeders. My 92 year old mother who lives with us is saddened by this
and also fearful, as the turkeys aggressively peck at her windows to the point
they may break. She will not go into the yard because the turkeys have no fear
towards any of us. They are on our deck, as well as the roof, and four of them were at the
front door yesterday. When 1 opened the door they just stood there,
giving no indication they would move until they were satisfied I had no food. We
live on North Snelling, across the street from Lindeys Steakhouse. They stopped the traffic
for 4 or 5 minutes today, walking across the street and stopping as they
went. They have eaten my rhododendron bushes. They are dropping their waste on our
deck, front walk, steps and driveway. My husband has dementia and when
they are on the deck he doesn't want to go outside. I feel they have taken over our
yard and we can no longer enjoy it.
I spoke with Brian at the Area Wildlife DNR in Forest Lake, and he is willing to
issue a permit for the city which would allow us to rid ourselves of the turkeys
with the service of a registered archery instructor for the DNR who as agreed to harvest
them.
I look forward to your anticipated cooperation with this matter. Your prompt
attention is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Pat Heiman
3635 Snelling Ave N
Arden Hills, MN 55112
651-247-1383 cell
file:/n\metro-inet.us\ardenhills\Admin\Council\Agendas & Packet Information\2010\3-8-10 ... 3/4/2010
