EN HILS <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> TUESDAY, May 18, 2010 6:30 PM <br /> ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> Chair Peck called the May 18, 2010, meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee to order <br /> at 6:30 p.m. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Committee Chair John Peck, Committee Members Cindy Garretson, <br /> Nancy O'Malley, Harold Petersen, Steve Scott, and Council Liaison David Grant, Rich Straumann, <br /> OTHERS PRESENT: Park and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson and Derrek Hames, EAMT <br /> Signage Designer. <br /> MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Jody Hilgers. <br /> 1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> MOTION: Ms. Olson requested a change to the agenda to present the City Council Report and <br /> the Parks and Recreation Report before touring Valentine Park. Committee Member <br /> Straumann motioned to approve the agenda as amended. Committee Member <br /> Petersen seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—April 27, 2010 <br /> Committee Member Petersen requested the spelling of his name be corrected to Petersen under <br /> Members Present. Committee Member Straumann asked that his arrival time be noted as 7:30 p.m. <br /> Chair Peck requested the word"for" be removed from the last paragraph of S.A. <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Petersen motioned to approve the April 27, 2010 minutes as <br /> amended, seconded by Committee Member O'Malley. The motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> A. Elmer L. Andersen Memorial Trail Signage <br /> Ms. Olson reported that Elmer L. Andersen's family did provide wording for the sign and <br /> distributed handouts showing samples of the sign. She asked that the members review <br /> the handout of the Elmer L. Andersen sign and provide feedback. The committee <br /> members stated they felt the family did a nice job with the wording. Mr. Hames stated <br /> that Elmer L. Andersen's family provided two versions which they needed to edit <br /> because of the limited space. He indicated the family has signed off on the wording and <br /> it is final. Chair Peck suggested that if Elmer L. Andersen, did in fact, sign the United <br />
