ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—March 29, 2010 12
8.A. Request for Wild Turkey Control (continued)
Mayor Harpstead asked the Council if the direction to Staff at this time would be to do nothing
because they will be difficult to catch and they may be dispersing. The City will need to be
vigilant regarding this particular issue.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff stated Shoreview had gotten a permit for seventy-
five turkeys but quit after getting only five because they had dispersed and were no longer in the
area. She recommended residents go to the DNR Web site for information on keeping these and
other animals from staying in your yard.
Mayor Harpstead stated this is an issue that will come back to the Council and the Council will
need to find a way to be more measured in these requests.
It was the consensus of the Council to direct Staff to do nothing regarding this matter at this time.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff clarified that in the future Staff could provide this
type of information to the Council in the Admin Update.
9. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND REQUESTS
Councilmember Holden stated April 6, 2010 was the Arden Hills/Shoreview Rotary meeting and
she encouraged Arden Hills' residents to attend. Last year there had not been a large number of
Arden Hills' residents present. The meeting will be held at Anchor Bank.
Councilmember McClung reminded residents that the 2010 Census forms were out and they
need to be mailed in. He also stated Ramsey County is still holding their Friends of the Park tree
sale. He stated residents could donate trees to the City's parks. There is information on the City's
website including a list of desired trees for the City.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff stated extra Census forms could be obtained at
City Hall. He also stated that on April 16 there is a Healthy Planning Workshop meeting at City
Hall. There are two open seats for any City Council members who wish to attend.
Councilmember McClung stated he was not able to attend this meeting.
Mayor Harpstead stated he would take one of the reserved seats if it were still available.
Councilmember Holmes stated on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, the Minnesota Department of
Transportation was holding an open house to discuss the I-694 Corridor project.
Councilmember Grant asked Community Development Director Lehnhoff to provide an update
on the Highway 10 and County Road 96 project in the Admin Update.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff stated he would talk with Civil Engineer Giga and
provide this information to the Council.
