Subd. 47Critical root zone. The minimum area around a tree that should remain undisturbed. To calculate the critical root zone, measure the tree's caliper inches. For each caliper inch of tree, 1.5 feet of root radius must be protected. For example, if a trees is 10 caliper inches, then its critical root radius is 15 feet (10 x 1.5 = 15).
