EN HILLS
MEM4RANDUM
DATE: September 16, 2010
TO: Jill Hutrnacher
FROM: Patrick Klaers, City Administrator
Sue Iverson, Finance Director/Treasurer
SUBJECT: Adjustments to the City's Compensation Proposal for the Community
Development Director Position
Based on our recent telephone conversations, I would like to make two adjustments
to the September 2, 2010 memo that I sent you which outlined the City's
Compensation Proposal. One adjustment is a change and one adjustment is a new
term.
The change relates to starting salary. The starting salary will be Step Seven
which is $88,219. Step eight is the top of the City's salary plan and you will
^each thi level ne ye^ ft^ mpoyner j- a atisfactory performance
evaluation.
The new term relates to severance pay. If within the first two (2) years of
employment the City Council requests your resignation without cause, then the
City will provide six (6) months salary in a lump sum payment. This will be one-
half of your current annual salary. If the request for your resignation without
cause comes between years two (2) and four (4), then the compensation will be
three (3) months salary in a lump sum payment. This will be 25% of your current
annual salary. If a request for your resignation comes at any time after four (4)
years of employment with the City, then no severance compensation will be
provided other than what is provided for all other employees.
Please note that this is the recommendation I will be making to the City Council
and that the City Council must approve the Compensation Proposal.
