Purchase of Generator <br />November 8, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br />In addition to the generator purchase, other necessary improvements include a 12'X24'-6" thick <br />concrete slab, privacy fencing, generator cords with 240/480 volt plugs and miscellaneous <br />electrical work to wire the generator into lift station #8. The total cost of all these items including <br />sales tax is estimated at $43,000. <br />As the City Council will recall, in August when the purchase of the lift station hoist service truck <br />was authorized the total price was slightly over the CIP budgeted amount. Staff committed to <br />attempting to under run the generator purchase by a similar amount. By purchasing the used <br />generator staff will have accomplished this under run. <br />Action Requested <br />Staff recommends a motion to authorize the purchase of a used 2005 generator from Ziegler <br />Power Systems in the amount of $29,000 plus sales tax and the contracting for necessary <br />improvements to house the generator at lift station #8. <br />C:\ Users \terry.maurer \Desktop \Generator Memo.docx <br />
