SUBJECT: Old Snelling Avenue Improvements--Preliminary Scoping Document
Background/Discussion
The Preliminary Scoping Document for the Old Snelling Avenue Improvement project was given
to the City Council the night of the December 6, 2010 meeting. For the December 20, 2010 work
session, City staff will give a brief presentation of the project and will be available to discuss the
scoping document with the City Council. Please bring your copy of the scoping document to the
work session to facilitate a discussion.
As presented in the scoping document, there are a number of roadway improvement alternatives
to consider for Old Snelling Avenue as well as additional features that can be included within the
project, such as installing a new bridge structure and/or installing a new detached pedestrian trail.
Given the different improvement alternatives and additional features that could be installed, the -
estimate range of project costs is:
+ $ 2,545,000 Urban reconstruction with curb and gutter, parking, remove and replace
the existing bridge, and install a pedestrian trail.
• $ 457,900 Bituminous reclamation of existing roadway without replacing the bridge
or installing a pedestrian trail.
