Approve Ordinance 2009-006 amending Ordinance 2008-016 to include a listing for the Special
Investigation Fee as presented in the March 30, 2009, report to the City Council. Approve

1.Approve Ordinance 2009-006 amending Ordinance 2008-016 to include a listing for the Special
Investigation Fee as presented in the March 30, 2009, report to the City Council.
Approve publishing a summary of Ordinance 2009-006.

TheCityofArdenHillshastraditionallychargedapenaltyandreinvestigationfeeamountingto
100percentofabuildingpermitfeewhenabuildingpermitisappliedforduringorafterrelated
constructionhasalreadystarted.ThispenaltyisreferredtobytheStateofMinnesotaasaSpecial
InvestigationFeeasitrequirestheBuildingInspectortoconductadditionalinspectionsto
determinewhetherapermitwasnecessaryandwhatcorrectionsmaybeneeded.
RecentadjustmentstotheCity'sBuildingCodenowmakereferencetotheCity'sFeeSchedule
fortheamountoftheSpecialInvestigationFeeinsteadofbeinglisteddirectlyintheBuilding
Code.SincethespecialinvestigationfeeisnolongerlistedintheBuildingCode,itneedstobe
addedtothefeeschedule.ThisisnotapolicychangeanddoesnotchangehowtheBuilding
Codeisenforced.
