SUBJECT: AHATS Update
Background
Camp Ripley Post Commander Colonel Scott St. Sauver has requested to come to a City
Council meeting to meet the new Councilmembers and to update everyone on current and
planned activities at the Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS). The Minnesota
Army National Guard Environmental Manager for AHATS, Dave Hamernick, will also
be at this upcoming City Council meeting.
Attached for your review is some background information on Colonel St. Sauver and
AHATS.

Colonel Scott St. Sauver
Camp Ripley Post Commander
Colonel Scott St. Sauver is the Post Commander of
Camp Ripley,Minn., a 53,000 acre State of Minnesota
owned training facility, and Commander of the Training -
Support Unit that is responsible for the day to day
operations of Camp Ripley.
St. Sauver began his career by enlisting in the South
Dakota Army National Guard in 1980. While enlisted
he served as a Cannoneer in the 2-147th Field Artillery
"u and later as a Gunner and Section Chief in 1-49th Field
Artillery.
In 1988 St. Sauver attended the Wyoming Officer
Candidate School and earned his commission as a Field
Artillery Officer.
St. Sauver has held numerous positions as a Field
Artillery Officer including: Forward Observer, Fire
Direction Officer,Battery Executive Officer, Battery
Commander, Targeting Analyst and Assistant Battalion
S3 with the 2nd Battalion, 147th Field Artillery. He has
also served as the Tactical Intelligence Officer with the
147th Field Artillery Brigade.
In 2000 St. Sauver took on the position of AFSCOORD with the 34th"Red Bull"Infantry Division Artillery.
After serving with the Division he was assigned as the Executive Officer for the 1st Battalion, 151st Field
Artillery. He served as the Camp Ripley Deputy Post Commander and then Ist Battalion, 151st Field Artillery
Battalion Commander before assuming his current duties as the Camp Ripley Post Commander.
St. Sauver's military education includes:Army Basic Training,Advanced Individual Training,Primary
Leadership Development Course, Wyoming Officer Candidate School,Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, _
Field Artillery Advanced Course, Combined Armed Staff Services School and the Command and General Staff
College.
St. Sauver holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Agriculture and Park Management and Masters Degree in
Education from South Dakota State University.
St. Sauver's military awards include: the Bronze Star,Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Cluster,
Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Cluster,Army Achievement Medal,Army Reserve Component
Achievement Medal with six Oak Leaf Cluster,National Defense Service Medal with one Star,Armed Forces
Reserve Medal with Hour Glass and M Device, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary
Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
St. Sauver has been married to Debra for 29 years. They have four children: Christopher,Anthony, Blake
and Ashley and two grandchildren.
