Recommendation:
Motion to authorize the purchase of a used 20Q1 Sterling dump fruck with plow and de-icing equipment
from Ramsey County for $30,OOQ plus saies #ax and autliorization to repaint the huck ta match the rest of
the City fleet.

The 2011-2015 Ame�ded Equipment Capital I�nprovement Plan {CIP) approved on
March 14, 2011 has in 2011 Addi�g a Used Dump Tz�uck frozx� Ramsey County. This
will give the City fleet three dump trucks �or snow plowing and eiiminaie the need io use
the front end loader for main plow actxvities.
Joe Mooney, Public Works Supe�zntendent, has worked with his counterpart at Rarnsey
County to select a 200I Sterling dump truck equipped with a plow and de-icing
equipment. Tk�e truck has approximately 3b,500 miles on it and 2,687 hours. Ra�nsey
County is will'rng to sell fhe truck �ox $30,000. The City would also have io pay sale� iax
on this amount wkxen the truck is registered with the State of Minnesota. The truck is
blue but sta��' has obtained a quote fram Dahlke Trailer and Sales Repair to repaint the
txuck white to match the rest of ihe Ciiy's dur�p trucks . The quote is for $3,685.OS and a
copy of ihe quote is attached.

The 201 I CIP has a budget for tl�e purchase of the used dump truck with plow and de-
icing equipment of $35,000. The purchase �rice plus sales tax is $31,950. If the truck is
to be xepainted for $3,685.05 the total cost would be $35,635.05, slightly above t�e
b�dgeted amount.

Council is requested to autharize the purchase of a used 2001 Sterling dump truck with
plovv and de-icing eq�i�ment from Ramsey Couniy for $30,040 plus sales ta�. The
Council zs also requested to give direction regarding the repainting of the truck to match
the rest of the City fleet.
