Back�round
The City of Arden Hills awarded Natural Shore Technologies, Inc. of Maple Plain,
Minnesota, the Indian Oaks Coun Aand Shoreline Restoration and Landscaping Project
on April 25, 201 I, iar a total contract amo�nt of $14,037.20. Change Order #1 in the
amount of $2,728.$0 was appra��ed on June 27, 201 I, increasing tl-�e contract to a revised
amount of $ t 6,76b.00
Discussion
The pay request includes work ear�-ipleted through August 10, 2011 _ The restoratio� work
is comp�ete.
Finaneial Implications
The table below provides a histary of tne construction costs for the pond excavation:
Engineer's Estimate $22,000.00
Original Contract Amount $14,037.20
Ciiange Order #] $ 2,728.50
Revised Contract Amount $16,766.00
Final Contract Amount $16,622.24
The final contract amount is Iess than the revised cantract amo�nt, beeause an herbivore
excIus�on fence v�7as to be insialled. This was not placed, however, because a family of
ducklings was living an the pond, and this fence would have been detrirnental to their
survi�al. More plants were installed than were originalIy planned ta �Il in sozne open

areas. These additional costs ��ere offset by the elirnination of the fence. O�erall, the fnal
contract a�nount was �ess than the original engineer's estiFnate.
The total amount the City wil] rec�ive in cost-share funds fro� the Ramsey Conse�-vation
District is 50°/fl oFthe restoration costs, or $8,31 I.12.
The City's portion of this project will be paid for using Surface Water Management
Enterprise Funds.
