SUBJECT: Met Council Stadium Risk Analysis
Background/Discussion
In early August, Governor Dayton asked the Metropolitan Council and the Metropolitan
Sports Facilities Commission to review the stadium proposal. The Metropolitan Council
issues its Stadium Proposal Risk Analysis on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. A link to
this Met Council report has been sent to the City Council.
Following the release of this report, a number of press conferences have been held and a
number of letters (or public statements) from organizations involved in the stadium
proposal have been made public. The Met Council report has been very newsworthy in
print, on television,and on the radio. Part of the discussions on the stadium includes talk
about a possible Special Session of the State Legislature to consider a stadium bill.
New comments and position statements regarding the stadium proposal seem to be a
daily event as are rumors about the project moving to Minneapolis. On Monday evening
staff plans to provide the Council with an update on the most current information
available.
