MEMORANDUM
DATE: December 12, 2011
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
Patrick Klaers, City Administrator
FROM: Sue Iverson, Finance Director of Finance and Administrative Services
SUBJECT: Adoption of the 2012 City Contribution for Employee Benefits
Background
Each year in December, the City sets the monthly contribution rate for employee benefits
for the next year.
Discussion
As part of the annual budget and levy adoption process, the Council is also asked to
approve the 2012 City contribution for employee benefits. The City contribution rate is
currently set by increasing the current contribution by 50% of the increase in premiums
for the next year of the HSA plan. The employee contribution rate of $697.42 per
month per employee for 2012 has been calculated into the proposed 2012 budget as
discussed at previous Council worksessions. (For reference, the 2010 & 2011 rate was
$680.21 per month per employee, the increase is $17.21 per month)
