SUBJECT: Commission and Committee Appointments — Resolution 2012-002
Back�round
In March 2007, the City Council approved an ordinance amendment setting three year
staggered terms for the members of the various commissions and committees (Section
220 and its subdivisions of the City Code). At the beginning of 2008, each member of
the committees and commissions was assigned an expiration date for their term in order
to implement the three year staggered term system. As part of that ordinance change, it is
no longer necessary to annually appoint all members of each commission and committee.
Therefore, Resolution 2012-002 only lists reappointments of existing members. The term
expiration date is listed after each member's name.
Planning Commission
Clayton Larson is a current Planning Commission member. His term expired December
31, 2011, and he has requested reappointment.
Economic Development Commission
Dan �rickson, Jim Huninghake, and Edmund von Holtum are current members whose
terms expired December 31, 2011. They have each requested reappointment.
Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee
Cynthia Garretson, Nancy O'Malley, Chuck Michaelson, and Steve Scott are all current
members. Their terms expired December 31, 2011, and they have each requested
reappointment.
Financial Planning and Analysis Committee
James Ostlund's term expired December 31, 201 l, and he has requested reappointment.

Communications Committee
Kristine Goodrich's appointment expired December 31, 2011, and she has requested
reappointment.
Requested Action
Motion to approve Resolution 2012-002 relating to commission and committee
appointments.

Resolution relating to the Appointments to the
Commissions and Committees of the City
WHEREAS, the City Council annually appoints residents to serve in an advisory
capacity to the City Council regarding planning and zoning issues on the Planning
Commission;
WHEREAS, the City Council annually appoints residents to serve in an advisory
capacity to the City Council regarding planning and zoning issues on the Economic
Development Commission;
WHEREAS, the City Council annually appoints members to serve in an advisory
capacity to the City Council regarding parks, trails and recreation issues on the Parks,
Trails, and Recreation Committee;
WHEREAS, the City Council annually appoints residents to serve in an advisory
capacity to the City Council regarding City financial planning on the Financial Planning
and Analysis Committee;
WHEREAS, the City Council annually appoints residents to serve in an advisory
capacity to the City Council regarding planning and zoning issues on the Communications
Committee:
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED The Arden Hills City Council appoints or
reappoints the following people to serve on the following commissions and committees
with terms ending as noted by the name:
