Attached is a June 19, 2012 press release regarding this program. There are currently 18 neighborhoods in Arden Hills that have signed up to participate in this program. The deadline for signing up to participate was July 20th, but more neighborhoods can still sign up. However, with late registrations, representatives from Public Safety organizations cannot guarantee an appearance. Night to Unite is a statewide event that builds and fosters community bonds between citizens, businesses and public safety organizations. Neighborhoods across the state display outdoor lights, front porch vigils, and celebrate with a variety of events and activities, including block parties and cookouts. On Tuesday August 7, 2012, from 5-9 pm, community officials, fire departments and Ramsey County Sheriff s Office representatives will be visiting neighborhood gatherings in Arden Hills, Gem Lake, Little Canada, North Oaks, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, and VJhite Bear Township to celebrate the fourth annual Night to Unite. "Night to Unite has proven to be an effective, inexpensive, and enjoyable opportunity to promote neighborhood spirit and community partnerships that help build safer communities," Sheriff Matt Bostrom said. "Community benefits include neighbors getting to know each other and the public safety agencies that serve them." Night to Unite is designed to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention; generate support, and participation, for local anti-crime programs; and strengthen neighborhood spirit along with police- community partnerships. Additionally, many of the local neighborhood events also collect school supplies for local school students in need. In 20ll there were 117 Night to Unite neighborhood parties in the seven cities that the Sheriff's Office provides police services to. Night to Unite events are also sponsored by police departments throughout the state of Minnesota. ###
