SUBJECT: Attorney RFP
Background/Discussion
At the August 201h work session,the City Council directed staff to move forward with a
Request for Proposal (RFP) for legal services. Since that meeting, the RFP has been put
together using samples from other municipalities. Additionally, I have met with Patrick
Kelly and Chad Lemmons from the Kelly& Lemmons law firm, Joel Jamnik from the
Campbell Knutson law firm, and Michael Norton from the Kennedy& Graven law firm
to discuss the RFP process and legal issues in Arden Hills.
City Attorney Jerry Filla has recently changed law firms and is now part of the Kelly &
Lemmons law firm. Jerry does the general municipal (civil) legal work and the
prosecution legal work for the City. Mike Norton from Kennedy& Graven is doing the
TCAAP work for the City.
At this September 24th work session, I want to give the Council a verbal update on these
three law firms and the RFP schedule and interview/selection process.
