'It ,zi.RZEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: May 14, 2012 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Patrick Klaers, City Administrator SUBJECT: Allina/Fire Department Fire Station#1 Update Background/Discussion Mayor Grant requested that a special work session be held to get an update on the Allina ambulances being stationed at the Arden Hills fire station. The City Council had an "emergency response - ambulance services" work session on September 19, 2011, where one of the discussion points was the relocation of the station where the Allina ambulances were located. The open house of the Mounds View Allina station was recently held. Some Council members attended this event. With this relocation to Mounds View, Allina has worked with the Lake Johanna Fire Department (LJFD) to place an ambulance at Fire Station #1. With this ambulance stationing has come some complaints about siren noise. There are pros and cons to the ambulance running out of Station #1. Right now, road constriction is a factor in response times. Mike Pintar (Operations Manager) and Jeff Czyson (Director of Operations) from Allina and LJFD Chief Tim Boehlke will be at this work session to provide an overview of the ambulance situation and to answer questions.
