SUBJECT: Traffic on Lexington d
Background/Discussion
Snelling Avenue, State Highway 51, has been closed north of County Road E and traffic
has been detoured to other routes. This closing has had a significant impact on local
traffic during P.M. rush hour (approximately 4 to 6 p.m.). Staff has discussed the
situation with the Ramsey County Public Works/Engineering staff, Mn/DOT staff, and
the Ramsey County Sheriffs Department (RCSD). There are no easy solutions to the
congestion problems.
On Friday I talked with the RCSD about Traffic Deputies (availability, cost, benefits/
anticipated results, etc.) and about having a representative available to attend this work
session.
