MEMORANDUM
DATE: October 8,2012
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
FROM: Patrick Klaers, City Administrator
Sue Iverson,Director of Finance and Administrative Services
SUBJECT: Wage Increase for Non-Union Employees
Background and Discussion
During 2012 budget discussions wage increases for non-union employees were discussed.
It was determined to give a 1% increase on January 1St and the Personnel Committee
would meet to determine a recommendation of an additional 1% effective Julyl st. The
Personnel Committee requested staff to do a salary survey based on 2012 information
comparable to the 2007 survey to analyze.
The Personnel Committee, which consists of two council members, the City
Administrator, and the Director of Finance and Administrative Services met on October
3, 2012 and reviewed the data. The Personnel Committee recommends that a one percent
COLA increase be granted to non-union employees effective July 1, 2012. This has no
effect on the budget as it was included in the 2012 budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion authorizing a one percent
wage increase for non-union employees effective July 1, 2012.
