BEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: October 8,2012 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Patrick Klaers, City Administrator Sue Iverson,Director of Finance and Administrative Services SUBJECT: Wage Increase for Non-Union Employees Background and Discussion During 2012 budget discussions wage increases for non-union employees were discussed. It was determined to give a 1% increase on January 1St and the Personnel Committee would meet to determine a recommendation of an additional 1% effective Julyl st. The Personnel Committee requested staff to do a salary survey based on 2012 information comparable to the 2007 survey to analyze. The Personnel Committee, which consists of two council members, the City Administrator, and the Director of Finance and Administrative Services met on October 3, 2012 and reviewed the data. The Personnel Committee recommends that a one percent COLA increase be granted to non-union employees effective July 1, 2012. This has no effect on the budget as it was included in the 2012 budget. Recommendation It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion authorizing a one percent wage increase for non-union employees effective July 1, 2012.
