TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilme rs
FROM: Patrick Klaers, City Administrator
SUBJECT: Appointment of Miriam Ward to the Northwest Youth

Background/Discussion
The City Council decided to advertise for a volunteer from the community to represent
the City on the Northwest Youth & Family Services Board. In this regard, Miriam Ward
submitted an application and met with Councilmember Holden to discuss the position and
organization. Councilmember Holden has been the City Council's representative on the
Board.
Following this discussion with Councilmember Holden, Miriam met with Jerry
Hromatka, NYFS President and CEO, to talk about the Board, the appointment process
and the organization. In mid April Jerry advised me that the Board had talked action to
appoint Miriam Ward to the Board as the City representative.
At this time, it is appropriate for the City Council to appoint Miriam Ward to the NYFS
Board as the City representative. Attached is the application from Miriam Ward.
