In his letter of resignation, Bill commended Council and Staff for their : dedication and fine work in the interests of Arden Hills. The Town Crier extends its C N: thanks to Bill for his conscientious attention to the Council duties and responsibilities dur- ing his past three and a half years as Council - Iman, and wishes him and his family a pleasant WON and rewarding stay in Arizona..... Council has the option of appointing a replacement to fill this vacancy for the remainder of the un- expired term (until December 31, 1976) or allow- ing it to remain empty until election. (As of this writing no appointment has been made.) Arden Hills residents will be voting for three Council seats at the November 2 general election: Mayor Uenry Crepeau's seat (a two-year term); Council- man James Wingert•s seat (a four-year term); and the seat vacated by Bill Feyereisen, also a four-year term. Filings for these offices will be from September 21 -October 5, 1976 at the Village Hall. Pre -registration for the November 2 election can be done anytime from now until October 12, after which time registration is closed until Election Day. Village Hall hours are Monday -Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., with special hours for pre -registration on Friday, October 8 until 9:00 P.M., Saturday, October 9 from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Tuesday, October 12 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Pre -registration is more efficient and saves time at the polls on Election Day! Make it easy on yourself - stop in the Village Hall or tel- ephone for registration materials NOW...... If you have voted or registered in Arden Hills within the last four years it is not necessary to register again..... ..... Absentee Ballots. If you will require an absentee ballot, this can be obtained by calling Ramsey County Department of Elections at 298-4181. Be sure to allow time for this to reach you by mail and to be returned, by mail, by Election Day..... ..... Voter turnout for Sept. 14 Primary: Precinct I - 1734 eligible voters, 603 voted; Precinct II - 1268 eligible, 496 votes; Precinct III - 171 elig- ible, 35 votes..... The Public Safety Committee is seriously concerned with the Village's dog problem. A tougher ordinance is contemplated. Complaints have increased, of barking and'howling dogs, instances of dogs chasing and, biting people, more and more running loose and uncontrolled. And we are all"too familiar with the unpleasantness of cleaning up the "deposits" left in our yards. Arden Hills' dog ordinance states that dogs must be,under the control of ' owners at all times - obviously this is not the case and the Public Safety Committee and Council are strongly considering recommending, ,passing and enforcing a much stricter dog ordinance. Request from the Police Department: The Sheriff's Association has raised $60,000 for the Isanti County. Boys Ranch facility/building but has run short , of funds for equipment. WANTED: Any used, useable sports equipment you wish to donate (uniforms, balls, anything). Please drop items at the Vil- lage Hall any weeX-day between 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department Open House on October 10, from noon until 5:00 P.M, at the Lake Johanna Fire Station, 3246 New Brighton Road. Some attractions - equipment displays, flea market (for a nominal fee anyone may set up displays or sell wares - no pre -registration necessary - just come between 11:00 A.M. and noon to set up your tables), pop, hot dogs and popcorn sold by A. H. Sportsmen's Club and the LJFD Auxiliary, clowns and entertainment, "Resussi-Annie "will be there along with trained firemen for demonstrations on cardio -pulmonary resuscitation, as well as demonstra- tions of first-aid and rescue techniques..... and more! It really sounds interesting and Sue Luehrs, 633-0514 and Clark Adair, 631-2398 say they'd welcome more local attractions, talent and displays. Call them for more information..... Wild Turkey Report: Thanks to Pat Reioux for responding with an up -date on the wild turkey rumors (which turned out to be true) of last month. Seems the Gene Gazelka family who lived on Lake Johanna moved last summer and on moving day as the Gazelka boys were loading up the various wild -life they'd been raising, one of their wild turkeys escaped. The family hopes that anyone seeing it will not think of it in terms of Thanksgiving, but rather might want to put some food out for it. The turkey can survive the winter without shelter as long as it has food. Northwestern College's request for a Special Use Permit to construct a Fine Arts Building was denied by Council..... .....
