The 208 -bed McKnight Geriatric Care Center addition is in the early stages of construction at Presbyterian Homes. Completion is scheduled for spring of 1978, at which time there will be accommodations for over 430 people at various levels of care. Council recently approved a $4,000,000 industrial revenue bond to finance this expansion. (Payment of the bond is guaranteed by Presbyterian Homes; the Village assumes no obligation in the redemption. Issuance of municipal bonds in this manner saves the home about 1% interest and provides tax exempt securities for the investors.) In addition to pro- viding homes and care for its more than 200 residents, at the present time P.H. also offers a variety of services to the community, and these services will be increased when the new expansion is completed. These now include a hot meal delivery to shut-ins in the Mounds View and Roseville School Dis- tricts, craft classes (weaving, ceramics), and two unique offerings of which the home is justifiably proud. one is "Day Care for Adults", a program which provides day care and physical therapy for persons who live,else- where (such as in their own homes); the other is a new "Stroke Club" pro- viding therapy where needed and which involves the patient's family with other families in,order to share common problems in a support -giving en- vironment. Plans for the new Geriatric Care Center also include 16 beds for short-term residential care and a telephone program by which the Home can check each day with people who are living alone.....but for right now, can you share 1-2 hours of your time every 3 weeks? If so, call Laurie Al- len, Mounds View School Dis. Sr. Citizens Coordinator at 636-0855 and offer to deliver a hot meal and a warm smile to a senior citizen....
